Denmark had served alongside the British in Helmand since 2006, with its battlegroup based in the Gereshk area of the same district. Search dogs and their handlers often went out with infantry patrols in Afghanistan, sniffing out explosives and hidden weapons caches, and flew in with the troops on helicopter operations like this
