The Cromwell faces the camera head-on with the number 45 on her hull front and two of her crew sitting on the turret. Behind her is the taller turret of the Challenger, partly hidden under camouflage. German civilians in overcoats and hats crowd the pavement and walk past the tanks, beneath the station’s shattered glass windows, with rubble heaped in the foreground and an ambulance further up the tree-lined street.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe \u003ca title=\"8th Hussars Photo prints\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshireprints.co.uk\/search?q=%228th+hussars%22\u0026amp;options%5Bprefix%5D=last\"\u003e8th Hussars\u003c\/a\u003e traced their history to 1693, rode in the Charge of the Light Brigade at Balaklava in 1854, and fought through the Western Desert, Normandy and North West Europe with the 7th Armoured Division, the Desert Rats. By 1945 they were the division’s armoured reconnaissance regiment, equipped with fast Cromwells and a few Challengers, a Cromwell development armed with the 17-pounder gun. The Desert Rats entered Hamburg when the city surrendered without a fight on 3rd May 1945, and went on to the victory parade in Berlin that July. In 1958 the 8th Hussars amalgamated with the 4th Queen’s Own Hussars, and their traditions now continue in The Queen’s Royal Hussars.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThis print is ideal for
