When Iraq invaded Kuwait in August 1990, the 7th Armoured Brigade, the Desert Rats, was the first British armoured formation sent to Saudi Arabia, and its tanks, \u003ca title=\"British Army Vehicles Photo prints\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshireprints.co.uk\/collections\/british-army-vehicle-photo-prints\"\u003evehicles\u003c\/a\u003e and stores went out by sea in chartered merchant ships.
