Her turret and mortar are still wrapped in their covers, spare track links and bedrolls are stowed about her hull, and railway lines run across the foreground while a carrier and \u003ca title=\"British Army Personnel Photo prints\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshireprints.co.uk\/collections\/british-army-personnel-photo-prints\"\u003esoldiers\u003c\/a\u003e move about beneath the factory’s shattered windows.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eArnhem had been left in German hands after the airborne battle of September 1944, and it was finally taken in April 1945 in Operation Anger. On the night of 12th April the 49th (West Riding) Infantry Division, the Polar Bears, crossed the IJssel at Westervoort in Buffalo amphibians of the 79th Armoured Division, and fought through the city with Canadian armour and the division’s specialised \u003ca title=\"British Army Vehicles Photo prints\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshireprints.co.uk\/collections\/british-army-vehicle-photo-prints\"\u003evehicles\u003c\/a\u003e in support. Arnhem was clear by 14th April, and the 79th Armoured Division’s AVREs, Crocodiles and flails had by then played their part in every major assault from Normandy to the Rhine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp
