The nearest tank shows her right side and census number to the camera, with the rest of the squadron ranged behind her and lorries parked along the hedgerow beneath a grey summer sky.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe Fife and Forfar Yeomanry was a Scottish Territorial yeomanry regiment, and in the Second World War its first line regiment served in the 9th Armoured Division, which was formed in Britain in December 1940 and spent its war training for the home defence and invasion role, never going overseas as a division. Like the division’s other regiments it was equipped largely with Covenanters, which were plentiful but whose cooling problems kept them from being sent abroad. In 1944 the 1st Fife and Forfar Yeomanry went to North West Europe with the 79th Armoured Division, converting to Churchill Crocodile flame-throwing tanks, while the 2nd Regiment fought from Normandy
