Two of her crew look out from the turret, the census number T189223 is painted on her front plate, and \u003ca title=\"British Army Personnel Photo prints\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshireprints.co.uk\/collections\/british-army-personnel-photo-prints\"\u003esoldiers\u003c\/a\u003e and civilians walk along the verge behind her as morning haze hangs over the fields, houses and a factory chimney beyond.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe Cromwell was the first British cruiser tank to combine high speed with a reliable engine, the Rolls-Royce Meteor developed from the Merlin aero engine, and it carried a 75mm dual-purpose gun able to fire both armour-piercing and high-explosive rounds. It entered service in 1943 and equipped the 7th Armoured Division and the armoured reconnaissance regiments of the other British armoured divisions in North West Europe. In Market Garden the Guards Armoured Division led XXX Corps out of its bridgehead on the Meuse-Escaut Canal on 17th September and reached Eindhoven on the 18th to link up with the US 101st Airborne
