She is seen with her left side towards the camera, her tracks thick with mud, a gun projecting from her side sponson and her vision ports and riveted plating clear, while bare winter trees and a misty building stand in the background.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe Mark IV was the most numerous British tank of the First World War, first going into action at Messines in June 1917 with the newly formed Tank Corps and fighting at Cambrai later that year. When the Germans widened the trenches of the Hindenburg Line beyond the Mark IV’s ten-foot reach, Sir William Tritton of Fosters devised the Tadpole tail, which lengthened the tank by about nine feet to let it cross the wider gaps. A few Mark IVs and Mark Vs were converted for trials in England and France in late 1917 and 1918, and hundreds of sets of tails were made, but the extension proved too flexible for hard use and was never used in action. The answer instead was the lengthened Mark V*, which entered service in 1918.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThis print is ideal for Royal Tank Regiment and British Army veterans and anyone
