Her disruptive camouflage, overhanging flight deck and tall island mast are reflected below her, with men at the forward edge of the deck, low hills behind and gulls wheeling across a cloudy sky.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eName ship of her class of light fleet carriers, she was built by Vickers-Armstrongs at the High Walker yard on the Tyne, launched in September 1943 and handed over to the Royal Navy in December 1944. She sailed from Glasgow for the Far East in March 1945 and reached Sydney that July, becoming flagship of the 11th Aircraft Carrier Squadron, whose ships went on to re-occupy Hong Kong and Shanghai after the Japanese surrender, before carrying released Dutch prisoners of war to Colombo in December 1945.
