Her pennant number is painted on the hull, a small boat lies alongside her amidships and an ensign flies at her stern beneath a low, overcast sky.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eBuilt by J. Samuel White at Cowes, just across the water from where this photo was taken, she was launched in December 1944 as one of the Co group and is recorded as the Royal Navy’s first all-welded \u003ca title=\"Royal Navy Warships Photo prints\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshireprints.co.uk\/collections\/royal-navy-warship-photo-prints\"\u003ewarship\u003c\/a\u003e. She went out to the Far East with the 8th Destroyer Squadron, was sent to the Solomon Islands in 1947 during the arrests of Maasina Ruru leaders, and on her way home that December landed men at Aden to help restore order during rioting. Refitted and equipped for minelaying in 1948, she later served as a torpedo training ship at Portsmouth and with the 6th Destroyer Squadron of the Home Fleet, took part in the 1953 Coronation Fleet
