Her pale Atlantic paintwork, the radar lantern above her bridge and her pennant number on the hull stand out against a grey sky, with a flag at her yard and an ensign aft.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eBuilt at Barrow by Vickers-Armstrongs for Parsons and completed in April 1935, she served off Abyssinia and Spain before the war and in the Norwegian campaign, until she ran aground off Whitburn in County Durham in October 1940 while escorting HMS King George V. During the long repair that followed she was rebuilt for anti-submarine work, with a Hedgehog mortar in place of her forward gun and new radar, and only weeks after this photo, on 16th October 1942, she depth-charged U-353 to the surface, rammed her and rescued 39 of her crew. She went on to sink U-69 in February 1943 and share in the sinking of U-767 in June 1944, and after the war she was sold to the Dominican Republic in 1949, serving as Generalísimo and later Sánchez
