Her twin forward gun turrets, bridge and lattice mast stand out pale against a dark, heavy sky, with her pennant number on the hull and a group of men gathered on deck by the guns.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe first and so far only Royal Navy ship to bear the name, after the battles fought off Cape Finisterre, she was built by Fairfield at Govan, launched in June 1944 and completed on 11th September 1945. She served with the Home Fleet and in the Far East, in January 1950 joined the search for the sunken \u003ca title=\"Royal Navy Submarines Photo prints\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshireprints.co.uk\/collections\/royal-navy-submarine-photo-prints\"\u003esubmarine\u003c\/a\u003e Truculent in the Thames Estuary, and from 1951 was a gunnery training ship for HMS Excellent at Whale Island, mooring beside her sister St James at the 1953 Coronation Review. Returning to the Far East with the 1st Destroyer Squadron in 1959, she later helped keep the peace off Kuwait at its independence in 1961, and after paying off in 1965 she was broken up at Dalmuir in
