Her hull carries a bold camouflage scheme of dark scalloped shapes against a lighter band. A sailor stands by the deck gun forward of the conning tower, more of her crew are gathered on the bridge, and an ensign flies above them. Behind her, large \u003ca title=\"Royal Navy Warships Photo prints\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshireprints.co.uk\/collections\/royal-navy-warship-photo-prints\"\u003ewarships\u003c\/a\u003e lie at anchor, the nearest on the right with a tall tripod mast, beneath a line of low hills and a broken sky.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eG14 was built by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company at Greenock, laid down on 1 December 1914, launched on 17 May 1917 and commissioned on 31 August 1917. The G Class were ordered in response to reports of new double-hulled German U-boats. They had a partial double hull, a 3-inch deck gun and a 21-inch stern torpedo tube alongside their 18-inch bow tubes. Like her sisters, G14 spent the last year of the First World War patrolling the North Sea in search of German U-boats.
