Her pale grey hull, banded after funnel, bridge and forward guns stand out against a bright, hazy sky, with a flag flying at her stern.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eBuilt by Scotts at Greenock and completed in September 1936, she was the first and so far only Royal Navy ship to bear the name, and spent much of the Spanish Civil War on blockade patrol off Spain. Sent to Freetown with Force K in 1939, she joined Renown, Ark Royal and Neptune off the River Plate in case the damaged Admiral Graf Spee broke out of Montevideo. At the First Battle of Narvik on 10th April 1940 she torpedoed merchant ships in the harbour and hit the German destroyer Diether von Roeder at least five times, before escorting her damaged sister Hotspur to safety; after serving at Calabria that July, she was mined off Cape Bon on 23rd August 1940 with five men killed, and was sunk by torpedoes from HMS Hero after HMS Mohawk took off her
