The jets are seen side-on, showing their starboard sides. Three are stacked in a tight echelon on the right, trailing red, blue and red smoke, while a fourth flies slightly apart on the lower left. Every fin carries the Union Flag and the “60” season marking, the pilots can be seen under their canopies, and the colours of the smoke stand out against a flat, overcast grey sky.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eRed Arrows pilots normally fly the same position in the formation throughout a season, which lets each one learn exactly where to sit relative to the leader. In the tighter formations the Hawks fly only a few feet apart, holding their places by eye and by small, constant corrections, at display speeds of several hundred miles an
