The jet is seen close in from her port quarter, with ROYAL AIR FORCE along the fuselage, the \"60\" of the team's 60th display season beside the roundel and again on the Union Flag tail fin. The fin of a second Hawk shows just beyond her, and the nose of the \u003ca title=\"The story of the Typhoon\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hampshireprints.co.uk\/blogs\/british-military-aircraft-and-vehicles-guide\/eurofighter-typhoon-history\"\u003eTyphoon\u003c\/a\u003e Display Team's aircraft edges into the right of the frame. Below, a sandy beach, small lagoons and a patchwork of fields curve away to a seaside town under a bright, cloudy sky. The flypast was flown for the UK's national commemorative event at the British Normandy Memorial, Ver-sur-Mer.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe Red Arrows' coloured smoke is made by injecting diesel mixed with dye into the hot jet exhaust, with the pilot choosing red, white or blue from the cockpit. The fuel and dye are carried in a pod under the fuselage, which was adapted from the gun pod position of the standard Hawk.
