Their white smoke trails rise from the bottom of the picture in smooth, parallel curves that bend over to meet the jets, like the blade of a scythe. The sky is clear, pale blue and without cloud. 2024 was also the first season in which Squadron Leader Jon Bond led the team as Red 1.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eBehind the nine display pilots, the Red Arrows rely on a large team of engineers and support staff, known as the Blues after the blue flying suits they wear. Red 10 is the team’s supervisor and display commentator, and also flies the spare jet when the team is on the move.
