Her port side is towards the camera, with the “Royal Air Force” lettering, roundel and serial in sharp detail. Behind her, the Union flag fins of three more Hawks rise in step. Five Alpha Jets run across the top of the picture, trailing white and blue smoke against a sky of scattered cloud. Below them, the Eiffel Tower and the dark block of the Tour Montparnasse rise from the rooftops of the city.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe Hawk was designed by Hawker Siddeley in the early 1970s as an advanced jet trainer, and was later built by British Aerospace. It has a single Rolls-Royce Turbomeca Adour engine, the same engine family that powered the Jaguar. The two crew sit in tandem, with the rear seat raised so that the instructor can see over the student’s head.
