42 Commando Royal Marines Sunset Sond Chara December 2008 Photo Print
Royal Marines Commandos of Lima Company, 42 Commando, walk in single file towards a low, blazing sun at the end of a long patrol in Helmand Province during Operation Sond Chara, December 2008. The marines are black silhouettes against a deep orange sky. The nearest balances a long weapon across his shoulders, the next is bent under a heavy Bergen, and the furthest is crouched low at the end of the line. Tufts of dry scrub stand out along the skyline and the ground below falls into shadow.
42 Commando returned to Helmand in autumn 2008 for its second tour with 3 Commando Brigade. Operation Sond Chara, known to the British as Red Dagger, ran from 7 to 25 December 2008 and pushed the Taliban out of the Nad-e Ali area. Lima Company covered more than 60 kilometres on foot and fought a close-quarters battle for the village of Zarghun Kalay on 17 December. Five British servicemen were killed during the operation.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
