British Army 1 RIFLES Merlin Downwash Omid Haft May 2011 Photo Print
A soldier of A Company, 1st Battalion The Rifles, British Army, braces against the downwash of a departing Merlin helicopter during Operation Omid Haft near Alikosi in Helmand, Afghanistan, in May 2011. Seen from behind his shoulder, he turns his helmeted head into a storm of straw, twigs and dust, one hand raised as the debris whirls around him. The Merlin climbs away as a pale shape through the haze above, while another soldier crouches in the dust beyond and green crops show at the edge of the field.
The Rifles were formed on 1st February 2007 from four light infantry and rifle regiments, and the 1st Battalion traces its line through the Devonshire and Dorset Light Infantry. Operation Omid Haft began with a large air assault in the early hours of 26th May 2011 to clear insurgents from the Loy Mandeh area of Nahr-e Saraj. It was planned and led by the Afghan National Army, with British and ISAF troops in support.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
