British Army 9 Para Squadron RE Aiming Route Trident 2010 Photo Print
A sapper of 9 Parachute Squadron, 23 Engineer Regiment (Air Assault), British Army, aims his SA80 rifle while keeping watch over work on Route Trident in Helmand, Afghanistan. This is a tight, close-up portrait. He has a scrim net on his helmet and his eye to the rifle’s optical sight, and his gloved hands grip the rifle, which is fitted with a foregrip and a torch on its rail. Magazines are packed into the pouches across his chest, and there is a patch on his sleeve. Behind him, out of focus, a large tan armoured vehicle stands on the dusty ground under a pale sky.
Royal Engineers in Helmand did two jobs at once: they fought as infantry and then built and repaired under fire. While the road was being laid, sappers like this one took turns on guard over their own work site. Their motto, Ubique, “everywhere”, reflects how widely the Corps serves. On Route Trident they also strengthened compounds and built sangars to hold the ground as the road pushed on across the Mandeh.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
