British Army 9th RTR Churchill Tanks Goch February 1945 Photo Print
A column of British Army Churchill tanks of the 9th Royal Tank Regiment advances towards Goch in Germany on 19th February 1945, during the hard fighting of Operation Veritable between the Maas and the Rhine. The leading tank, her right side to the camera, has her commander up in the turret hatch as the column rolls past a water-filled crater in the sandy soil, with young pines behind and an aircraft’s vapour trail streaking across the pale winter sky.
The 9th Royal Tank Regiment was raised in November 1940 as a wartime regiment and was one of the first to be equipped with the heavily armoured Churchill infantry tank. It landed in Normandy in June 1944 and fought through the costly battles around Hill 112 and on across North West Europe in close support of the infantry. In February 1945 it supported the 53rd (Welsh) Division in Operation Veritable, the battle through the Reichswald forest to clear the west bank of the Rhine, in which Goch fell after bitter fighting around 21st February. The regiment was disbanded after the war.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
