British Army AAC Lynx Mk 9A Refuelling Bastion October 2011 Photo Print
An Army Air Corps Lynx Mk 9A of the British Army takes on fuel at a refuelling point on the Camp Bastion airfield in Helmand, Afghanistan, in October 2011, with its rotors still turning and both pilots in their seats. Two soldiers in desert camouflage stand at the cabin door beside the mounted machine gun, one in a flying helmet and the other in a combat helmet, with the fuel hose coiled across the concrete at their feet. The helicopter faces the camera in its green and grey camouflage, a cockpit door hinged open and its red anti-collision light glowing, against a backdrop of sand-coloured barrier walls.
The Lynx first flew in 1971 as a joint Anglo-French design. In 1986 a modified Lynx set a world speed record for a conventional helicopter of just over 249 mph, a record it still holds. The AH9, which entered Army service in the early 1990s, replaced the earlier versions’ skids with the wheeled undercarriage seen here, making it easier to move on the ground and from hard standings like this one at Bastion.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
