British Army AS90 Head-On Steel Sabre Otterburn March 2015 Photo Print
A British Army AS90 155mm self-propelled gun moves up a gravel track towards its firing position on the Otterburn Ranges in Northumberland on 6th March 2015, during the Royal Artillery’s Exercise Steel Sabre, her huge muzzle brake swung out over the camera in a dramatic wide-angle view. Her headlights are on, the registration 22 KK 93 and a black and white chequered sign are painted on her front, a chequered pennant flies from her aerial, and her commander stands up on the turret in a scrim-covered helmet with the driver looking out below, against bare birch trees and brown winter moorland under a heavy grey sky.
The Royal Regiment of Artillery was formed at Woolwich in 1716 and has served in almost every campaign the British Army has fought since, earning the single honour “Ubique”, meaning everywhere, in place of individual battle honours. For the gunners, the guns themselves take the place of regimental colours. Exercise Steel Sabre brought together Regular and Reserve gunners with allied troops to practise the whole artillery chain on Otterburn, and the AS90, the Royal Artillery’s tracked 155mm gun from 1993, was at the heart of it until the type left British service in 2025.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
