British Army Churchill AVRE Arnhem April 1945 Photo Print
A British Army Churchill AVRE rolls head-on past the shell-scarred AKU factory in Arnhem on 13th April 1945, during the Second Battle of Arnhem, with two of her crew in berets sitting on top of the turret. Her turret and mortar are still wrapped in their covers, spare track links and bedrolls are stowed about her hull, and railway lines run across the foreground while a carrier and soldiers move about beneath the factory’s shattered windows.
Arnhem had been left in German hands after the airborne battle of September 1944, and it was finally taken in April 1945 in Operation Anger. On the night of 12th April the 49th (West Riding) Infantry Division, the Polar Bears, crossed the IJssel at Westervoort in Buffalo amphibians of the 79th Armoured Division, and fought through the city with Canadian armour and the division’s specialised vehicles in support. Arnhem was clear by 14th April, and the 79th Armoured Division’s AVREs, Crocodiles and flails had by then played their part in every major assault from Normandy to the Rhine.
This print is ideal for Royal Engineers and British Army veterans and anyone with a connection to the 79th Armoured Division, the 49th (West Riding) Division or the liberation of Arnhem.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
