British Army Churchill Tank Jester Tilshead January 1942 Photo Print
The British Army Churchill tank Jester, of B Squadron, 10th Royal Tank Regiment, comes on towards the camera across muddy ground during an exercise at Tilshead on Salisbury Plain on 31st January 1942, her commander in his black beret standing in the turret with two more of the crew looking out behind him. She is seen from the front with her left side towards the camera, her tracks and hull caked in winter mud, the number 10 painted in a square on her turret and her name lettered across her front plate.
The Churchill infantry tank was designed and built in great haste by Vauxhall after the fall of France, and the first went to the regiments in the summer of 1941, only months before this photograph was taken. The 10th Royal Tank Regiment was a wartime unit that joined the 31st Army Tank Brigade in January 1941, and as the battalion’s tank names show, every vehicle took a name beginning with J, the tenth letter of the alphabet. In February 1943 the regiment was renamed the 7th Royal Tank Regiment, taking the number of the battalion lost at Tobruk, and went on to fight in Normandy and North West Europe.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
