British Army Humber Scout Car Caen Attack July 1944 Photo Print
Brigadier N W Duncan of the 30th Armoured Brigade, 79th Armoured Division, British Army, watches the attack on Caen from beside his Humber scout car outside Beuville on 8th July 1944. Seen from behind on a dirt track, the scout car carries the number 50 and the division’s bull’s head sign on her rear, with kit lashed under a tarpaulin on her engine deck, while an officer in a beret studies the battle through binoculars from the grassy bank, a second man in a peaked cap stands at the roof weapon mount and a crewman in a black beret sits beside him under a grey, overcast sky.
The Humber scout car was built by the Rootes Group from late 1942 to make up for the shortage of the Daimler Dingo, and more than 4,000 were completed by 1945. Lightly armoured and carrying a crew of two or three with a Bren gun on its roof, it served mainly as a fast liaison and command vehicle in the armoured divisions. The 30th Armoured Brigade was the flail tank brigade of the 79th Armoured Division, its Sherman Crabs clearing paths through minefields from D-Day onwards. On 8th July 1944, in Operation Charnwood, British and Canadian divisions attacked Caen from the north and fought their way into the city.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
