British Army M3 Grant Tank Knocked Out Panzer I June 1942 Photo Print
A British Army M3 Grant medium tank stands beside a knocked-out German Panzer I light tank in the Western Desert on 6th June 1942, during the Battle of Gazala, with smoke still drifting from the burnt-out wreck in front of her. The Grant, in a disruptive desert camouflage and seen with her left side towards the camera, has two crewmen in berets up on her turret and her hull-mounted 75mm gun pointing forward, while the shattered Panzer lies on the sand beside her with its plating holed and scorched.
The Grant was the British version of the American M3 medium tank, fitted with a larger turret built to British requirements to hold the radio beside the commander, and it took its name from the Union general Ulysses S. Grant. Its 75mm gun, mounted in a sponson on the hull, could fire high explosive as well as armour-piercing rounds and outranged most German tanks of the time, giving the Eighth Army its first real answer to the Panzers. Grants first went into action at Gazala at the end of May 1942, fought on through El Alamein, and were replaced in the armoured regiments by the Sherman during 1943.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
