British Army Royal Engineers Trojan Op Hamkari Kandahar 2010 Photo Print
A British Army Trojan Armoured Vehicle Royal Engineers of 5 Armoured Engineer Squadron, 23 Engineer Regiment (Air Assault), churns through deep sand on Operation Hamkari in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, in 2010. Dust boils up around the Trojan so thickly that it almost swallows the vehicle. Through the haze can be seen its broad plough blade at the front, the excavator arm folded up over the hull, and a bundle of pipes for filling ditches carried on its back. Slat armour hangs from its sides, and a remote weapon mount and two tall aerials stand on its roof against a pale, washed-out sky.
Operation Hamkari, which the soldiers called the Battle of Kandahar, was the 2010 campaign to push the Taliban out of the districts west of Kandahar City. They included Zharay, with the insurgent stronghold of the Horn of Panjwai and Sangsar, where the Taliban movement began. From September 2010, 5 Armoured Engineer Squadron left the British area in Helmand to give close engineer support to the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, US Army, and its partnered Afghan National Army kandak. Its Trojans, working with the Python mine-clearing system, cleared IEDs to open routes into the area.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
