British Army Royal Ulster Rifles Jeep Horsa D-Day June 1944 Photo Print
Riflemen of the 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles, 6th Airlanding Brigade, 6th Airborne Division, British Army, drive off Landing Zone N near Ranville in a jeep and trailer on the evening of D-Day, 6th June 1944, past a crashed Airspeed Horsa glider. The jeep, her left side to the camera and an Allied white star on her bonnet, tows a trailer packed with men in scrim-covered helmets and kit, while behind them the Horsa lies broken against a wire fence, its black and white invasion stripes and RAF roundel still clear on the fuselage.
The 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles became a glider-borne airlanding battalion in October 1941, and with the 2nd Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry it formed the experienced core of the 6th Airlanding Brigade. On the evening of 6th June 1944 the brigade flew into Normandy in Operation Mallard, landing by glider around Ranville to reinforce the airborne bridgehead east of the River Orne, and the Riflemen moved straight off the landing zone to take Longueval and Sainte Honorine. The battalion went on to fight in the Ardennes and landed by glider again at Hamminkeln in Operation Varsity in March 1945, and its traditions continue today in the Royal Irish Regiment.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
