British Army Royal Welch Fusiliers Mortar Night Firing July 2004 Photo Print
Soldiers of the Mortar Platoon, 1st Battalion The Royal Welch Fusiliers, British Army, fire an illumination round at night in Iraq in July 2004, during Operation Telic 4. The muzzle flash bursts white and orange above the barrel and lights the sand around the mortar a deep red, while three soldiers in helmets and body armour crouch low beside it with their heads turned away. A few distant lights mark the horizon in the darkness behind. The fire mission was part of the effort to deter attacks on the oil pipelines, with the rounds lighting up chosen areas of ground.
The Royal Welch Fusiliers were raised in 1689 and were among the oldest infantry regiments in the British Army, keeping the old spelling "Welch" in their title. They were known for the Flash, five black ribbons worn at the back of the collar. On 1 March 2006 the regiment became the 1st Battalion of the newly formed Royal Welsh.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
