British Army Soldier IED Search Garmsir March 2009 Photo Print
A British Army soldier lies flat on a sandy track beside a stretch of water near Garmsir, Helmand, in March 2009, carefully brushing away the dust from a suspect object buried just below the surface. His rifle lies beside him within easy reach and his metal detector rests on the ground behind his feet. Dust kicks up from the end of his brush, and a grassy bank lines the far side of the water.
By 2009 roadside bombs had become the greatest threat to British troops in Helmand, and every route had to be treated as suspect. Soldiers swept the ground with detectors, then cleared anything suspicious by hand, a slow and dangerous drill known as Barma. Garmsir, in the far south of the province on the Helmand River, had seen hard fighting since British troops first arrived there in 2006.
This print is ideal for British Army veterans, counter-IED and search teams, and anyone with a connection to Garmsir or Operation Herrick.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
