Royal Navy F-35B Lightning Ski Jump Take off October 2024 Photo Print
An F-35B Lightning leaves the top of the ski jump on HMS Prince of Wales on 8 October 2024, photographed from high up, looking forward along the flight deck. The jet's exhaust has thrown a thick cloud of spray off the wet deck, while below on the right a row of Schopf aircraft tractors and stacked pallets of stores wait beside the ramp, with a handler in a blue helmet at the wheel of the nearest one, and a grey sea runs out to the horizon beyond.
The jets aboard that autumn came from 809 Naval Air Squadron, supported by 617 Squadron, and it was the first time 809 had gone to sea in one of the new carriers since re-forming. With their carrier qualifications done, the pilots moved on to consolidation training, building up their experience of launches and recoveries. The ramp lets a heavily laden jet get airborne in a much shorter run than a flat deck would allow.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
