HMS Argonaut F56 Leander Class Frigate August 1985 Photo Print
HMS Argonaut (F56), a Royal Navy Leander Class frigate, moves slowly along the Potomac River in Virginia, USA, on 26 August 1985, her starboard side lined from bow to stern with sailors in white uniforms. Signal flags are strung from her foremast, a large White Ensign is hoisted at the stern, and a helicopter sits on her flight deck against a backdrop of low wooded shoreline under a pale grey sky.
By the time of this visit Argonaut looked very different from her 1960s self. Between 1976 and 1980 she was converted as an Exocet Leander: the 4.5 inch turret was removed in favour of four Exocet anti-ship missile launchers on the forecastle, and her close-range defence was strengthened with two quadruple Seacat launchers and a pair of 40mm Bofors guns.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
