HMS Ariadne F72 Leander Class Frigate June 1989 Photo Print
HMS Ariadne (F72), a Royal Navy Leander Class frigate, moves slowly across still, pewter-coloured water on 27 June 1989, seen side on from her port beam with a small bow wave at her stem. Behind her runs a long stone breakwater, and a steep headland topped by old fortifications rises on the right of the frame. Only a few figures are on her upper deck and the sky is low and overcast.
This was one of Ariadne's final years in British service. She paid off in 1992 and was sold to Chile, where she served as the Chilean Navy's General Baquedano, joining a navy that already operated Leander class frigates. Her name comes from Greek legend, where Ariadne, daughter of King Minos of Crete, gave Theseus the thread that led him out of the labyrinth.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
