HMS Arrow F173 Type 21 Frigate 1982 Photo Print
HMS Arrow (F173), a Royal Navy Type 21 frigate, is under way on a grey, choppy sea, photographed from slightly above on her port side beneath a flat, overcast sky. A white bow wave runs along her hull and her wake trails away astern, while a second warship sits small on the horizon to the left. This colour photograph was taken by the United States Navy around 1982, the year Arrow went south to the Falklands.
Arrow was built by Yarrow at Scotstoun on the Clyde and launched in February 1974, one of eight Type 21 frigates. Unusually, the class was drawn up by the commercial shipbuilders Vosper Thornycroft and Yarrow rather than by Admiralty designers, and they were among the first Royal Navy frigates designed from the outset for gas turbine propulsion. Their aluminium superstructure and single 4.5 inch gun on the forecastle made them easy to recognise, and they were popular with the sailors who served in them.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
