HMS Birmingham D86 Type 42 Destroyer Port Bow View Photo Print
HMS Birmingham (D86), a Royal Navy Type 42 destroyer, drives through a deep blue sea at speed in this aerial view off her port bow, throwing a broad white wake down her side. The 4.5 inch gun turret and twin Sea Dart launcher sit on her foredeck ahead of her radar domes, and flags fly from her masts. A low line of pale cliffs lies along the hazy horizon; the date is not known.
Birmingham was the second Type 42 destroyer to enter service, built by Cammell Laird at Birkenhead, where she was laid down on 28 March 1972 and launched on 30 July 1973. She was commissioned on 3 December 1976 as one of the six Batch 1 ships. After more than twenty years' service she paid off at Portsmouth on 10 December 1999, and she left under tow for the breakers in Spain on 20 October 2000.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
