HMS Burghead Bay K622 F622 Bay Class Frigate 1945 Photo Print
HMS Burghead Bay (K622), a Royal Navy Bay Class frigate, lies almost still on a calm, hazy sea, seen from off her port quarter with her stern and the large K622 on her transom nearest the camera. The White Ensign flies from her ensign staff, and the depth charge gear on her quarterdeck, the tall lattice mast and a boat stowed amidships stand out against the pale sky. The listing dates the photograph to 1945, the year she was launched and commissioned.
Burghead Bay was first ordered as the Loch Class frigate Loch Harport from Hall Russell of Aberdeen, but that order was cancelled in December 1943 and she was re-ordered as a Bay Class anti-aircraft frigate from Charles Hill and Sons of Bristol. She was launched on 3 March 1945 and commissioned on 20 September 1945, then served with the Plymouth Local Flotilla until the end of 1952. Her pennant became F622 in 1948, and in May 1959 she was sold to Portugal as NRP Alvares Cabral.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
