HMS Camperdown D32 Battle Class Destroyer June 1945 Photo Print
HMS Camperdown (D32) approaches from off her port bow on 12 June 1945, shortly before entering harbour, with a few sailors on the forecastle and more along the guardrail amidships. She still wears wartime paint with a darker panel along the hull, and her two forward twin 4.5 inch turrets and the large gunnery director above the bridge, with its pair of radar nacelles, stand out against a pale, overcast sky.
Named after the victory over the Dutch at Camperdown in 1797, she was built by Fairfield on the Clyde, launched on 8 February 1944 and commissioned on 18 June 1945, only days after this photograph was taken. The Battle Class were designed with an unusually heavy anti-aircraft armament to meet the air threat to the fleet, but Camperdown was completed too late to see action in the Second World War.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
