HMS Caradoc 1916 C Class Light Cruiser Fitting Out 1917 Photo Print
HMS Caradoc (1916), a Royal Navy C Class light cruiser, lies alongside the fitting-out quay at Scotts’ yard in Greenock in 1917, seen from above with her starboard side towards the camera. Yard cranes tower over her two funnels and foremast, with the frames of another ship rising on the slipway behind her, workmen and timber stacks on the quayside and hills on the far side of the Clyde in the distance.
One of the four ships of the Caledon group, she was laid down in February 1916, launched that December and completed in June 1917, in time to join the Grand Fleet and fight at the Second Battle of Heligoland Bight that November. After the Armistice she supported anti-Bolshevik forces in the Baltic and then the Black Sea, before years of service overseas and spells in reserve between the wars. Recommissioned in 1939, she carried £2 million in gold to Halifax, Nova Scotia, and intercepted the German tanker Emmy Friedrich, which her crew scuttled, before ending the war as a gunnery training ship at Durban and an accommodation ship at Colombo. She was broken up at Briton Ferry in 1946.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
