HMS Chaplet R52 C Class Destroyer August 1945 Photo Print
HMS Chaplet (R52), a Royal Navy C Class destroyer, is under way on 13th August 1945 on completion, seen from off her port bow with her pennant number painted large on the hull and a bow wave curling at her stem. Smoke trails from her funnel, signal flags fly from her yard and an ensign at her stern, with a low wooded shoreline behind her on the left.
One of the Ch group of the C Class, she was built by Thornycroft at Woolston, launched in July 1944 and commissioned on 24th August 1945, just as the Second World War was ending. In the early 1950s she served with the 1st Destroyer Squadron at Malta, and in 1954 an interim modernisation replaced her X gun mount with two Squid anti-submarine mortars, before she saw service in the Suez Crisis of 1956. On fishery protection duty off Iceland in May 1959 she collided with the Icelandic patrol vessel Óðinn, and after being laid up in 1961 she was broken up at Blyth in 1965.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
