HMS Charybdis F75 Leander Class Frigate c1974 Photo Print
HMS Charybdis (F75), a Royal Navy Leander Class frigate, steams through the Mediterranean sea in about 1974, in this black and white photograph of her port side with “F75” large on her hull and her anchor housed at the bow. Her twin gun turret sits on the forecastle. Amidships are her bridge, her tall foremast and her funnel, and the big rectangular aerial of her long-range radar stands on the mainmast behind. Members of her ship’s company stand along the rails at the bow and the stern, and the sky above is a soft, hazy grey.
In her early years Charybdis ranged widely. She was guard ship at Gibraltar in 1969, deployed to the Far East and the Pacific in 1970, and was on patrol off Iceland during the Cod War of 1973. Mediterranean patrols like the one in this photograph were a regular part of her programme through the decade, and in 1977 she took her place among the fleet at Spithead for the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Review. In the 1980s she returned to the Gulf on the Armilla Patrol in 1985 and again in 1988.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
