HMS Conqueror S48 Churchill Class Submarine Cold War Photo Print
HMS Conqueror (S48), a Royal Navy Churchill Class submarine, runs on the surface from right to left, showing her full port side, with a bow wave curling along the forward hull and her upper rudder just breaking the water well astern. Two masts are raised above the fin, and a mountainous coastline shows faintly through the haze behind her. This black and white photograph is undated and the waters are not identified.
Most of her career was spent on Cold War patrols, tracking Soviet submarines and surface ships in the North Atlantic and the northern seas. Weeks after coming home from the Falklands she is reported to have taken part in Operation Barmaid in August 1982, cutting a towed sonar array free from a Soviet intelligence vessel so that it could be examined. Details of these patrols stayed secret for many years.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
