HMS Cook K638 Bay Class Frigate 1951 Photo Print
HMS Cook (K638) lies at anchor in April 1951, photographed from low on the water off her port bow with her cable running taut from the hawse down into a choppy, wind-ruffled sea. Her hull and upperworks are in pale paint above dark boot-topping, a Union flag flies from the jackstaff and a lattice mast rises amidships, with boats stowed along her side. A low shoreline and a single tall chimney stand on the horizon under a flat, overcast sky.
She began life on paper as the Loch Class frigate Loch Mochrum, but the order was changed and she was laid down to the revised Bay Class design on 30 November 1944. Launched as Pegwell Bay on 24 September 1945, she was taken in hand at HM Dockyard Devonport in February 1948 for conversion into a hydrographic survey ship, a job finished in July 1950. On completion she was renamed Cook and given the pennant number A307.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
