HMS Cossack L03 Tribal Class Destroyer 1938 Photo Print
HMS Cossack (L03), a Royal Navy Tribal Class destroyer, steams across a calm sea in 1938, newly completed and seen from her starboard side. Her light peacetime grey paint and the large pennant L03 on her hull show up clearly against a hazy sky. Her twin gun mountings, tall foremast and two funnels sit in a clean, unbroken line. A row of her ship’s company stands along the rails on the forecastle and amidships.
Cossack was built by Vickers-Armstrongs at High Walker on the Tyne, launched on 8 June 1937 and commissioned on 7 June 1938. In February 1940, under Captain Philip Vian, she entered a Norwegian fjord, boarded the German supply ship Altmark and freed 299 British merchant seamen taken prisoner by the Admiral Graf Spee. Two months later she was badly damaged in the Second Battle of Narvik. In May 1941 she made night torpedo attacks on the Bismarck. On 23 October 1941 she was torpedoed by U-563 while escorting a Gibraltar convoy, and she sank under tow four days later with the loss of 159 men.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
