HMS Crossbow D96 Weapon Class Destroyer May 1961 Photo Print
HMS Crossbow (D96), a Royal Navy Weapon Class destroyer, lies alongside a wide concrete quay at Trondheim, Norway, in May 1961, with awnings spread over her forecastle and the Union Flag flying from her jackstaff. Local families stroll along the quay beside her, a small lighthouse stands on the breakwater beyond, and a wooded headland rises across the water under a broken sky.
Crossbow was built by Thornycroft at Woolston and completed in 1948 as one of only four Weapon Class destroyers finished for the Royal Navy. In the late 1950s all four were converted into radar pickets, which is why a large lattice foremast carrying a long-range air warning aerial dominates her profile here. She was broken up in 1972.

We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
