HMS Dido 37 Dido Class Cruiser December 1940 Photo Print
HMS Dido (37), lead ship of the Royal Navy's Dido Class cruisers, lies at anchor in the Firth of Forth in this photograph dated December 1940. She is seen from off her starboard bow, with her anchor cable running down from the hawse. Her forward gun turrets rise in steps towards the bridge, with her tall masts and after funnel behind, on a calm sea under a bright, hazy sky.
Dido was laid down by Cammell Laird at Birkenhead on 26 October 1937, launched on 18 July 1939 and commissioned on 30 September 1940. On 29 May 1941 she was badly damaged by bombing while carrying troops away from Crete to Alexandria. She served through the Mediterranean campaigns and escorted a convoy to North Russia in October 1944. In July 1945 she carried King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to the Isle of Man, and she was broken up at Barrow-in-Furness in 1957.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
