HMS Duchess D154 Daring Class Destroyer April 1964 Photo Print
HMS Duchess (D154), a Daring Class destroyer, moves slowly across sheltered water with her starboard side to the camera and a long paying off pennant streaming from her lattice mast back towards the stern. Her ship's company line the upper deck from forecastle to quarterdeck, and a hillside of houses and trees rises behind her under an overcast sky.
Duchess was built by John I. Thornycroft and Company at Woolston, Southampton, and commissioned into the Royal Navy in 1952, one of the big Daring Class ships armed with twin 4.5 inch gun turrets. In February 1964 the Royal Australian Navy lost its own Daring Class ship, HMAS Voyager, in a collision with the carrier HMAS Melbourne, and Duchess was lent to Australia to fill the gap, arriving in Sydney that April. Australia bought her outright in 1972 and converted her into a training ship, and she was finally paid off in October 1977.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
