HMS E34 E Class Submarine 1917 to 1918 Photo Print
HMS E34, a Royal Navy E Class submarine, sits high and dry on the keel blocks of a floating dock. The camera looks along her length from just off the bow. Out of the water, the full rounded shape of her hull can be seen, with the bow hydroplanes standing out from her sides and the openings for her bow torpedo tubes. Above, her conning tower and masts rise over the casing. The dock’s tall steel wall runs alongside her with ladders and a small hut on top. Choppy water washes over the edge of the dock floor, and a steamer lies in the distance under a dull, grey sky.
E34 was built by John Thornycroft at Woolston, Hampshire, launched on 27 January 1917 and commissioned that March. She was one of the minelaying E Class boats, with her side torpedo tubes replaced by mine tubes carrying 20 mines, and a 12-pounder gun forward of the conning tower. On 10 May 1918 she sank the German submarine UB-16 off Harwich. Barely two months later, on 20 July 1918, she was lost to a mine off the Frisian Islands, between Texel and Vlieland, with no survivors.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
Your order will be crafted by award-winning framing technicians based in central England, with decades of combined experience. Using the finest FUJI professional photographic papers and premium materials, they ensure exceptional print and frame quality.
Our hand-picked craftsmen and women work with state-of-the-art printing and cutting equipment, yet every frame is still assembled by hand and subject to rigorous quality checks. Their dedication consistently results in outstanding work, appreciated by many returning customers.
