HMS E7 E Class Submarine 1914 to 1915 Photo Print
HMS E7, a Royal Navy E Class submarine, runs on the surface with her port side towards the camera, throwing a white wave up over her bow. “87” is painted in white on her conning tower, and a tall mast with a crossyard rises above it. Several of her crew are on the bridge and on the casing beside it, and a light guardrail runs forward along the deck. A small steamer lies off on the right, and low buildings show at the far left of a calm, pale horizon.
E7 was built at Chatham Dockyard, launched on 2 October 1913 and commissioned on 16 March 1914. She was at Harwich with the 8th Submarine Flotilla when war broke out, and patrolled the Heligoland Bight in the first weeks of the war. In 1915 she was sent to the Dardanelles. Her first patrol in the Sea of Marmara lasted 24 days, and she sank 13 vessels and damaged many more. On her next attempt to pass through the Straits she was caught in the anti-submarine nets off Nagara Point. Mines were exploded around her, and on 4 September 1915 she was brought to the surface, abandoned and scuttled.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
