HMS Eagle 1918 Aircraft Carrier 1930 Photo Print
HMS Eagle (1918), a Royal Navy aircraft carrier, steams across a glittering, sunlit sea in 1930 while a Fleet Air Arm biplane, roundels on its wings and a radial engine in its nose, flies low over her from the camera side. The view looks down on her port side, bow to the left, with a group of aircraft ranged at the after end of the flight deck and her tall tripod director and twin funnels on the island beyond.
Eagle was never meant to be a carrier. She was laid down in Britain as the battleship Almirante Cochrane for the Chilean Navy, bought by the Admiralty in 1918 and rebuilt around a full length flight deck, with the long starboard island and two funnels that made her outline so easy to recognise. The conversion was not finished until 1924, and she spent the inter-war years proving how a carrier and her aircraft could work with the fleet.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
